Jimma University Medical Center (JUMC) is one of the oldest hospitals in Ethiopia and it is the only teaching and referral hospital in southwest Ethiopia with 800 bed capacity and a catchment population of over 15 million people. At present, there is only one radiotherapy center in Ethiopia located in the capital Addis Ababa. The Federal Ministry of Health of Ethiopia is expanding the service to other five centers across the country, including JUMC. Erasmus MC signed a collaboration MoU on June 1st, 2018 in which Erasmus MC offers to provide advice and consultancy on the radiotherapy facility at JUMC, and offer education opportunities for radiation oncology personnel. 

The Luca Incrocci Foundation will contribute to develop a basic training in radiation oncology for Ethiopian personnel at JUMC in collaboration with Erasmus MC.
